    Description

There is a hush that falls over you at the Western Wall — a stillness so deep it feels like the stones themselves are listening. In “Sacred Blue: A Moment at the Kotel”, I immersed the entire scene in shades of blue to capture that meditative calm. Blue is the colour of contemplation, of the heavens, of the tzitzit — and here it washes over the figures in prayer, the ancient stones, and the sky above, unifying everything in a single sacred breath.

Created in acrylic on canvas, this piece measures 80×90 cm | 32×35 in, giving it a commanding yet intimate presence on any wall. The figures at the Kotel are painted with soft, flowing forms, their individuality gently dissolved into the collective act of devotion. This was intentional — at the Wall, personal identity gives way to something far greater.

As a Judaica artist based in Jerusalem, I have stood at the Kotel many times, and each visit deepens my understanding of its power. This painting is my attempt to share that experience — the weight of centuries pressing against your palms, the whispered prayers rising upward, the profound sense that you are never truly alone in this place.

This original painting by Chaya Koritz is a meaningful addition to any collection of Jewish art or sacred art. I invite you to explore more of my Jerusalem-inspired works or contact my studio to learn about acquiring this piece.
