    Description

Light has always been central to Jewish life — in the home, in the synagogue, in the soul. In “Living Light: Contemporary Judaica Art”, I set out to paint not just a menorah, but the energy it radiates. The candles glow with a warmth that extends beyond the canvas, and the brushstrokes pulse with movement, as if the flames are swaying gently in a breeze only they can feel.

Created in acrylic on canvas, this piece measures 90×80 cm | 35×32 in, giving it a commanding yet intimate presence on any wall. I chose a palette of soft neutrals and warm earth tones, punctuated by touches of light, to give the piece a contemporary feel while honouring the timeless symbolism of the menorah. The result is a painting that feels alive — rhythmic, expressive, and full of quiet joy.

Living and working as a Judaica artist in Jerusalem, I draw daily inspiration from the sacred objects and traditions that surround me. The menorah, for me, represents not only the miracle of Chanukah but the enduring inner light of the Jewish people — a light that cannot be extinguished. This piece is my interpretation of that resilience and beauty.

Whether displayed in a living room, office, or sacred space, this original work by Chaya Koritz brings a sense of spiritual warmth and modern elegance to any environment. Please feel free to browse my full collection of Jewish art or reach out to my Jerusalem studio for more information.
