Description
Kever Rachel holds a quiet, powerful presence that is impossible to forget once you have felt it. Simple in form, yet profoundly moving in spirit — it is a place where centuries of longing, love, and prayer converge. In “Kever Rachel: Where Prayers Rise”, I wanted to honour that sacred atmosphere, painting not just the structure but the feeling of being there, surrounded by the whispered prayers of generations.
Created in acrylic on canvas, this piece measures 100×150 cm | 39×59 in, giving it a commanding yet intimate presence on any wall. The palette is soft and contemplative — gentle earth tones, warm stone hues, and subtle touches of light that suggest a presence beyond the visible. The composition draws the eye inward, toward the tomb, just as the site itself draws the soul inward toward reflection and connection.
What moves me most about Kever Rachel is the intimacy of it. People come here not for spectacle, but for something deeply personal — to pour out their hearts to Mother Rachel, to ask for comfort, healing, and hope. That tenderness is what I tried to capture in every brushstroke of this painting.
As a Judaica artist living in Jerusalem, I am blessed to have these sacred sites as part of my daily landscape. This original painting by Chaya Koritz is a heartfelt tribute to one of the holiest places in Jewish heritage.
