Description
Jerusalem is a city that holds you — ancient, steadfast, and impossibly layered. In “City of Stone, City of Soul”, I painted the city as I feel it: grounded yet alive with spiritual energy. The earthy palette of warm ochres, muted golds, and soft browns gives the composition a sense of permanence, as though these buildings have stood since the beginning of time and will stand long after.
The structures are painted close together, forming an organic pattern that mirrors the way Jerusalem’s neighbourhoods fold into one another — each alley leading to another story, each rooftop hiding another prayer. There is a rhythm to it, a gentle pulse that runs through the stone and mortar.
Living in Jerusalem as a Judaica artist, I walk these streets daily and never tire of their beauty. The golden light that falls across the limestone at dusk, the way shadows carve depth into ancient walls — these are the moments I try to capture. This painting is an invitation to see the city not just as a place, but as a living soul.
