Description
The Western Wall is eternal, yet the way we experience it is always evolving. In “Sacred Stones, Modern Soul”, I set out to capture the Kotel through a contemporary, expressive lens — honouring its sacred essence while bringing a fresh artistic energy to the scene. Soft, calming colours blend with touches of gold, portraying the Wall as a place of both spiritual connection and timeless beauty.
Measuring 100×150 cm | 39×59 in, this piece holds a presence that is both commanding and intimate. The flowing forms and gentle palette create an atmosphere of quiet reverence, while the modern composition and expressive brushwork keep the piece feeling current and alive. It is traditional in spirit but contemporary in execution — a bridge between the ancient and the now.
As a Judaica artist living in Jerusalem, I believe deeply that sacred art should speak to the present as much as it honours the past. The Kotel is not a relic; it is a living, breathing place of prayer and connection, and I wanted this painting to reflect that vitality. The soft tones and gold accents evoke the gentle light of Jerusalem at dusk, when the stones seem to glow from within.
This original work by Chaya Koritz brings the soul of Jerusalem into any modern space. Whether for a home, office, or Judaica art collection, it offers spiritual depth wrapped in contemporary elegance.
