Description
There is a light in Jerusalem that exists nowhere else on earth — a golden glow that seems to rise from the stones themselves. In “Golden Jerusalem – Strength, Spirit, and Sacred Beauty”, I used gold leaf to honour that radiance, letting it shimmer across the ancient walls and rooftops of the Holy City. The gold is not merely decorative; it is symbolic, reflecting the divine presence that generations have felt within these walls.
Created in acrylic and gold leaf on canvas, this piece measures 80×140 cm | 32×55 in, giving it a commanding yet intimate presence on any wall. The ancient structures rise with strength and quiet dignity, their forms softened by the warmth of the palette — muted earth tones, soft creams, and luminous gold accents. There is a stillness here, but also a deep resilience, the sense of a city that has endured everything and emerged more beautiful for it.
Living in Jerusalem, I see this golden light every day, and it never ceases to move me. This painting is my love letter to the city — to its history, its faith, and its enduring beauty. Every layer of gold leaf was applied with intention, each brushstroke a quiet prayer of gratitude for the privilege of calling this sacred place home.
This original work by Chaya Koritz is a stunning centrepiece for collectors of Judaica art and Jerusalem art. I invite you to explore more of my sacred art collection or reach out to my studio to discuss this piece in detail.
