Description
The parting of the Red Sea is one of the most powerful moments in Jewish history — a moment of raw, divine intervention where faith met freedom in a single, breathtaking act. In “Freedom Awaits the Jewish People”, I wanted to capture the sheer energy and emotion of that scene. The waters surge upward in dramatic swirls, the wind howls through the composition, and a sea of Israelites surges forward toward the promise of liberation.
Created in acrylic and goldleaf on canvas, this piece measures 80×130 cm | 32×51 in, giving it a commanding yet intimate presence on any wall. The dynamic brushwork mirrors the chaos and wonder of the moment — nothing is still, everything is in motion. Yet within the turbulence, there is a clear path forward, a corridor of hope carved through the impossible. The palette blends deep blues and earth tones with flashes of gold, symbolising the divine hand guiding the way.
This story resonates with me deeply because it is not just history — it is a living truth. The Jewish journey toward freedom is ongoing, and the courage it took to step into the parted sea is the same courage we are called to summon in every generation. This painting is a celebration of that enduring spirit.
Created in my Jerusalem studio, this original work by Chaya Koritz is a bold and moving piece of Judaica art that brings one of the Torah’s most dramatic narratives to life. I invite collectors of Jewish art and sacred art to explore my full collection or contact my studio for more information about this painting.
